Abbie – May 2017-18 Student of the Month

Posted By Fred Wittenberger

Abbie has participated in girl’s tennis, gymnastics, girl’s track, the Math Team, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society,  and Student Council at HUHS.  She was team captain for girl’s tennis her senior year and earned the mental toughness award during her junior year.  Abbie lettered on the Math Team two years in a row and chaired the Homecoming stage committee for Student Council during her junior year.  At the beginning of her senior year, Abbie was nominated to speak in front of the HUHS staff on behalf of the student-athletes.

Much of Abbie’s community involvement stems from the volunteer work done for St. Kilian Church and the HUHS H-Club.  She volunteers her time in a first grade Sunday School Class at St. Kilian and plays bingo with senior citizens at their community center. Abbie also helped organized the coat drive, Toys for Tots drive, and Operation Christmas Child sponsored by the H-Club at Hartford Union High School.

Abbie plans to attend Edgewood College in the fall to major in Biochemistry with a pre-engineering emphasis.  She also plans to play tennis for the Edgewood Girls Tennis Team.
