Nate Dorn

Officer Hartford Police Department

Cash the drug dog – HPD

Scribe: Ron Schlitt Editor: Fred Wittenberger

Officer Dorn and CASH presented the program.  Cash is now 12 yrs. old.  The department would like to get another 3 or 4 years out of him before retiring CASH from service.  CASH stays with Officer Dorn at all times and comes to work with him every day.  CASH is not part of the police department budget.  The program is self-funded through donations.  The cost of a new dog can run between $3,000 and $15,000.  To keep CASH up to date, the dog has to go through 16 hours of training per month.  CASH is trained as a drug dog only.
